Craig Sager’s Battle with Cancer Commemorated Through Iconic Nike Shoe
Millions of NBA fans will be tuned in to NBA on TNT, tonight as the NBA 2016-17 season tips off Tuesday, Oct. 25. Those millions will become viewers of a special tribute to renowned sideline reporter and content creator Craig Sager, as he continues to battle his ongoing fight with leukemia.
Along with the NBA on TNT, people all around the NBA are paying tribute to Sager. The SagerStrong Foundation is partnering with NIKEiD to auction off exactly 100 pairs of customized “Sager Strong” Air Force 1s that represent the broadcasting icon’s infamous and unique fashion sense. Sager designed the pair himself. The online auction begins today at 7 PM ET and ends Friday, November 4th, with a portion of the proceeds going to toward the aforementioned foundation.

In addition to the custom shoes, two shirts have been created and will be sold online at the SagerStrong Foundation website. Also, the Golden State Warriors will be giving out custom t-shirts to all fans attending the team’s opening night game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Sager is currently a sideline reporter for TNT and TBS and has covered various sports and events, such as the NBA, the MLB, the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. Sager is in his 20th season as a sideline reporter for the NBA on TNT where he gained widespread popularity for his very colorful and unique suits. Twitter recently rolled out a special hashtag for Sager that includes a custom emoji when used on the social network, #SagerStrong.
