WWE’s VR Pitch May Bring a Whole New Reality to the Ring

WWE wrestling is arguably one of the most dramatic sports around; it can turn your favorite high-flying hero into the most hated villain in a matter of seconds. As fans of the sport continue to grow, is finding other ways to keep the audience engaged.
Michelle Wilson, Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer of the WWE, sat down with Business Insider and revealed different approaches, such as Snapchat, Facebook LIVE, the already-adapted, 360-degree feature, and soon-to-come AR (altered reality) and VR (virtual reality) features.
Wilson stated, “We know that our fans want to be literally in the ring with our superstars, so I think AR and VR is something we’re really paying attention to.” Just imagine the possibility of a high-flying, choke-slamming and drop-kicking VR experience of WWE matches.
As the WWE continues to evolve in innovative ways to account for the fans’ experience, this could become the new normal way to experience sports.
