Twitter Releases 280-Character Limit to the Public

Say hello to the future of tweeting.
What was first a “test” for a select group of users has now been released to everyone on Twitter. On Tuesday, the social media site rolled out its 280-character limit to help everyone “express themselves easily in a Tweet” without having to conform to a previous limit of 140-character limit.
According to a recent blog post, “9% of Tweets in English hit the character limit. This reflects the challenge of fitting a thought into a Tweet, often resulting in lots of time spent editing and even at times abandoning Tweets before sending. With the expanded character count, this problem was massively reduced – that number dropped to only 1% of Tweets running up against the limit.”
Twitter even came out with a graph to show this trend:
With the new update, here’s how some members of the Twitterverse have reacted to the change.
We all have 280 characters? Well, as Shakespeare wrote, “Brevity is the soul of wit. The soul of wit is what brevity is. Brevity? Soul of wit? They're the same thing. Like if you had brevity in one hand and the soul of wit in the other, you’d be hard pressed to tell them apart.”

I will NEVER use 280 characters nor will I favorite or retweet a tweet with them. THIS IS MY FIGHT SONG

#280Characters certainly puts brevity at stake. May be this is a more suitable logo for twitter now. pic.twitter.com/u2e27tRP3J

Don't let this 280 character update distract you from twitter shutting down Vine in order to dumb us down and get rid of actual comedy
