TLC Finally Updates Fans on New Album Drop Through Kickstarter

For fans of the R&B/Pop group, TLC, it has been quite a while since we were treated to new music. Since 2002’s album 3D, we have only received a few greatest hits collections and reissued albums to help satisfy the desire for their new music, and it has been nearly two years since Chilli and T-Boz announced that they were going to give fans new music by asking fans to help make this goal possible.

Specifically, the duo asked TLC’s faithful fanbase to come together and donate to their Kickstarter account, which, in turn, would enable them to deliver an album. A goal of $150,000 was the benchmark TLC and fans dug deep into their pockets, pledging over $430,000.

With the funds pledged and the obvious desire for a new TLC album, it was a bit of a headscratcher when no album was released – or any discussion of one was relayed – almost two years later. TLC’s manager took to the Kickstarter page and let fans know that the album is slated to drop in June. He also touched on why there was a delay in getting the ball rolling with the album stating that,

“When we decided to do the album, it was based on a number of emotional decisions. At the time we had no music, no producers, no writers, and a few ideas.”

He went on to say that fans can expect the album this year and thanked the fans for their support.
