Snapchat Spectacles Now Available Online

If you haven’t seen Snapchat Spectacles before, they are Snapchat’s video-recording sunglasses. They record 10-second videos and take photos that send directly to your Snapchat account. From there, you can share the captured content with your Story or select friends.

Previously, Spectacles were only sold through Snapbots across surprise locations around the United States and through Snap Inc.’s pop-up shop in New York City.

Today, Snap Inc. has put those Snapbots to a brief nap and closed down their pop-up shop, according to a TechCrunch report.

What does all this mean?

It means that starting today you can now purchase Spectacles right off of their website. The Spectacles cost $129.99 and include a charging case and cable. Buyers should be aware that it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for them to arrive. You can also now buy the charging case and cord individually from their website since Amazon will no longer be selling them.

Snap Inc. filed for an IPO a few weeks ago and it has been valued at between $19.5 billion and $22.2 billion. It now needs to prove to potential investors that there is profit to be made off of the self-described camera company. Especially after admitting that the initial release of Spectacles did not create a lot of revenue for the company.

But for consumers, now you can record your vacation trip, the concert you’re attending, or even just a simple walk on the beach without having to pull out your phone. Check out how some people have already been using their Spectacles.
