People Are Spending More Time on Instagram than Snapchat

Instagram Stories recently reached its one-year anniversary, and to celebrate, the social media giant released a metric for “time spent” on their app from users.
According to the report, Instagram users under 25 spend more than 32 minutes a day on the app, and users over 25 spend more than 24 minutes a day.
This comes as no surprise, except to its rival Snapchat who reported lower numbers back in February. Snapchat released numbers indicating users under 25 spend 30 minutes a day on their app, while users over 25 are spending approximately 20 minutes per day. It’s possible these numbers could be higher today, since the company has not released new metrics in the first quarter report. But Instagram numbers might indicate Snap Inc. could be losing steam.
With a nearly identical Story feature, Instagram has been poaching potential Snapchat users with greater convenience and a better overall user experience. Depending on who you ask, Instagram is starting to make a dent in Snapchat’s user base and are regularly choosing the former rather over the latter.
