Hurricane Harvey has impacted millions of people over the course of its four-plus days. Since the storm began Friday, school districts and companies had to completely shut down so people could prepare for the worst. Grocery stores were picked clean of essential products, and houses boarded up to accommodate for the high levels of wind and rain. But it still wasn’t enough to prepare us for what was to follow.
While cities like Corpus Christi and Victoria Texas were in the eye of the storm and received plenty of wind and rain destruction, the city of Houston has received the majority of flood damage. Hurricane Harvey has left the city of Houston completely under water, leaving the ability to evacuate almost impossible.
The beauty in all of this is it has allowed the people of Houston to band together and help each other out. Many social media users took the time to share posts, videos and photos of the devastation left behind, along with great acts of resiliency and unity. Here are some of those posts that were shared.
It’s so hard to see this is happening, but we will get through this . #TexasStrong #HurricaneHarvey pic.twitter.com/Dcsesv0nDg
