The Golden Globes According to Twitter
This year was the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globes, an annual award ceremony to honor the best in American film and television. The event, hosted by Seth Meyers, was broadcast live by NBC and online streaming services such as Sling TV, YouTube TV, among others.
But in case you missed the program Sunday night, Twitter was there to save the day. Celebrities and fans alike took to the social media platform to re-cap the night, so everyone could find out who said what (and who didn’t say what).
With recent events in the television and film world, attendees to the ceremony wanted to make a statement by wearing all black and even got some hashtags like #TimesUp trending.

The hashtags #TimesUp, #WhyWeWereBlack and #MeToo were of the most used throughout the night.

In her acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, Oprah Winfrey held nothing back and brought down the house.
It may look like a lot of people spoke out about the political and social movements last night, but many people stayed silent.

The brilliant series Handmaid’s Tale took the Golden Globe for Best Drama TV Series, and lead actress Elisabeth Moss took the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Drama.
The much loved animated Disney/Pixar movie Coco took the award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Another film that got a lot of love for its win last night was the Indie film “Lady Bird”, which took home the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Best Performance by an Actress – Musical or Comedy.
