Apple Takes A Bite Out Of Sony’s Video Team

Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg will be leaving tech and content titan Sony sometime in August to pursue new positions overseeing video programming at Apple. Sony announced that the pair were leaving the company once their contracts are up to start developing content for Apple’s growing media market.
At Sony, they have served 12 years as presidents for the company and were responsible for many notable shows such as “Breaking Bad” and “The Blacklist,” which have appeared on platforms such as DirecTV, AMC, NBC, CBS, A&E, FX, and Yahoo. Variety has reported that Amburg and Erlicht will be working in the LA offices for Apple.
Eddy Cue, the Senior Vice President of Software and Services for Apple stated, “Jamie and Zack are two of the most talented TV executives in the world and have been instrumental in making this the golden age of television”.
Jamie and Zack have won 36 Emmys and quite a few Golden Globes while creating content for Sony, so it’s no wonder they will be leading Apple’s video programming worldwide.
This move is part of a growing trend at Apple to develop unique, original content. “We want to bring to video what Apple has been so successful with in their other services and consumer products — unparalleled quality,” Jamie Erlicht said.
