Amazon to Launch Mobile Messaging App

Amazon.com, the site know for Prime Two-Day Shipping, Pantry, and video streaming and cloud computing services is now coming out with its very own messaging appSince messaging applications top the charts of the Google Play and Apple’s App store, Amazon is now joining the ranks with its own app, Anytime.

Based on images provided to AFTVNews, Anytime is looking to be “an all-in-one” type of application, so Facebook Messenger might need to pick up its pace. The app’s main service is messaging but includes other features such as voice calls, video calls, the ability to share photos with @mentions, as well as filters for users’ photos and videos, the ability to share GIFs and play games.

The application will be secure and encrypted, according to information from the survey and will be available for use on different platforms such as mobile devices and desktops.

Amazon has been stepping up its game recently, and introduced Chime earlier this year, a video conferencing app to rival other business conferencing apps such as Skype for Business. Amazon has also recently announced that voice calling and messaging features are now available on Alexa-equipped devices, making the Alexa app a rival to other services overnight.

As of right now there is no indication of when Anytime will launch. However, since Amazon has begun surveying customers on important features, it has been reported by one individual it could be a finished product. With its resources and reach, do you think Amazon has a chance in the mobile messaging game to compete with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger? Let us know  in the comments below!
