Adidas Apologizes for Boston Marathon Email Mishap

Adidas is apologizing after sending an extremely insensitive and poorly thought-out email to customers Tuesday morning marketing their latest Boston Marathon apparel.
Adidas email subscribers received an email with the subject line reading: “Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!” one day after the 2017 Boston Marathon and four years after the bombing of the 2013 Boston Marathon.
Completing the Boston Marathon is an incredible task and it is very common for someone to congratulate another on “surviving” a 26-mile run. This just wasn’t the best way or time to use that expression, and similar to the Pepsi fiasco and the United Airlines catastrophe, (albeit to a lesser extent) social media let Adidas know.
Hey @adidas, I don’t think this is the best subject line for an email…… pic.twitter.com/aByzQDS1Bf

Adidas shared this statement through email and on Twitter.
This isn’t anywhere near as bad as Pepsi and United Airline’s current PR nightmares; however, take this email mishap as a lesson on triple checking the emails you send out. You don’t want to be the reason why a multi-billion dollar company has to apologize.
