McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce Shortage Causes Social Media Outrage

Fans of the popular ‘Rick and Morty‘ animated series on Adult Swim were excited when they heard that a popular Szechuan sauce referenced in the show was going to be sold at McDonald’s fast food restaurants. McDonald’s however, underestimated just how large the ‘Rick and Morty’ fan base was.
According to an article in the New York Times, McDonald’s had promised to bring back the sauce that originally made a debut when Disney’s “Mulan” was released in 1998. The problem was, the sauce was only available on a Saturday and only at select locations.
Fans took to social media to display their frustrations toward McDonald’s and their inability to prepare for the situation.

McDonald’s said in a statement that their super-limited batch, clearly wasn’t enough to meet the demand, but also stated that they will release another batch this winter. The popular show has created a new generation of fans who have demanded in a sign petition that the Szechuan sauce be released so they can enjoy it and have that nostalgia feeling.
Not permanently, but you’ll see Szechuan Sauce again this winter. This time for longer and in a larger quantity in all US locations. ?
