Amazon Is on the Rise with No Sign of Slowing Down

Amazon has dominated the e-commerce industry since in the 90s and is completely transforming the way we shop. From niche products like mullet head bands to Centaur finger puppets, Amazon has become the go-to source for anything and everything we might need. But today, the tech company is proving to be much more than a cloud computing company and internet retailer — now Amazon is gunning for your TV.

In a recent Morningstar report, Amazon Prime memberships have now risen to around 79 million subscribers – and climbing. These numbers have taken a significant jump from just the end of last year when subscriptions hit approximately 66 million, and they’re getting dangerously close to the estimated 90 million television subscriptions in the US.

With numbers like these, Amazon could surpass satellite and cable sometime next year. However, it is important to note that these numbers are not just based solely off of Amazon TV; they also come with all the benefits of Amazon Prime, such as its quick 2-day delivery system.

Amazon also has other perks, such as a variety of payment options. Though it does cost $99 for an entire year of Prime, Amazon has offered a monthly payment plan. And for those living on government assistance, some could be eligible for discounts on Prime.

With numbers like these, along with the growing trend of other internet streaming companies like Netflix, will TV soon be obsolete? Let us know in the comments below!
