Here’s the First Dialogue-Based Film Shot Entirely on a Drone

Is there anything a drone can’t do?

Aerobo, an FAA-approved company that operates drones nationally for clients in news, TV, sports, advertising and cinema, recently produced the first ever dialogue-based film shot entirely on a drone.

At The End Of The Cul-de-Sac, which was also directed by Paul Trillo, is about a peculiar man who goes through public embarrassment, shame and breakdown in the middle of his neighborhood and in front of his neighbors.

“It is the first dialogue-based film shot entirely on a drone,” Trillo explained to Innovators Mag. “Adding to that technical achievement, we shot it in single ten-minute take, with no cuts. A ten-minute take is hard to execute even with traditional filmmaking equipment and using a drone added even more.”

Throughout the short film, the drone captures some amazing angles of the story being told.

“I wanted to tell a story first,” said Trillo. “We pushed drone technology to help tell that story, not the other way around. It was amazing to see how well the drone operators were able to follow the 3D animatic I created with Cinema 4D.”

The motion is definitely different from viewing a regular film, and it’s something that might take some getting used. Let us know your thoughts on the film in the comment section below.
