Facebook Challenges LinkedIn with New Job Application Feature

If you didn’t listen to the advice given to you in high school or college about being aware of how you manage your social media, this would probably be the best time to be cautious with what you put out, especially if you’re seeking employment. Facebook has been evolving and testing different features lately, such as the comments pop up feature, but the latest one is helpful to users in regards to applying for jobs right from their feed through a feature called “Apply Now.”
Facebook is taking this approach to challenge business networks like LinkedIn. The feature was made available just a day ago for businesses to create job postings and market them to their desired audiences, but also to communicate with their prospective employees. Facebook users will be able to bookmark the job posting that they may be interested in while scrolling through their news feed to apply while on the app or the website.
Facebook wrote a blog post, describing its approach with the “Apply Now” feature:
This new experience will help businesses find qualified people where they’re already spending their time—on Facebook and on mobile. This will be a way to keep the Facebook traffic increasing as many users and business owners will not only use the network to just socialize but also to network and find jobs or employees.
As users apply for the jobs, their application will collect information that is already available through their public profile; also, potential future employers will be able to see what info the user makes public, so it would behoove you to manage privacy settings. The new feature is now available in the U.S. and Canada through iOs and Android users.
