Netflix Announces New Download Feature
Binge watchers rejoice!
Netflix has announced that users will now have the option to download movies and shows. This means, even if you are not connected to the Internet, you will still be able to watch your favorite shows or movies on your mobile devices. Your data plan and wallet should also rejoice.
The new update will not cost Netflix members any extra. Users must download the most recent Netflix app or update on their devices to use the new download feature. Once downloaded, you will be able to download only a certain selection of content, including Stranger Things, Narcos, Orange is the New Black, Minions, etc. Netflix says more content will be available in the near future. Note that you have to be connected to the Internet while downloading a movie or show. Once downloaded, you will be able to watch while offline for a certain period of time. The “My Downloads” page will show users how long they have with each show or movie.

- Open the app and log into your account. From there, click on the menu button icon, then choose the Available for Download option.
- Search through the content you wish to download to see if it is available for download.
- If content is available for download, it will include the download icon in the description header if it’s a movie. For TV shows, the download icon will be next to the individual episode titles.
- After downloading, you will be able to access the content from the “My Downloads” section.
- You can choose to change the video quality by going to the menu icon and tapping App Settings > Downloads > Video Quality, then choosing either the Standard or Higher option. This will affect the time it takes to download and the size of the download.
