6. Read Your Work Out Loud
It’s easy for writers to get comfortable with their work by simply reading and re-reading their work in their heads. But while this form of proofing your writing has been used for years, it’s not all that productive. Reading your work out loud allows you to hear for yourself how your writing sounds. Does it flow well? Do the sentences sound concise, or are they too long or too short? Does punctuation help the flow, or ruin it? Does it have the effect you want it to have? These are a few of the questions you can ask yourself as you read aloud, and it will also help with any typing errors you’ve made along the way.
